FAQ'S

1.    What’s an e-collar and how does it work?

An e-collar is an electronic dog training tool approved by veterinarians. It is helpful in influencing dog behavior, especially in the learning stage. It works by causing a stimulation to your dog from a level of 1 to 7. Most humans cannot feel a level 1 or 2. Most of my training is done at a level 1 or 2. A higher level is only employed when dealing with issues of aggression or extreme negative behavior including biting, chasing, fighting, etc.

 2.    How long does the program last and what are the duration of classes?

Most dogs require 8-10 hours for permanent, lasting results. The way in which the program is broken up can be customized based on your schedule, location, and mine. Hours and days do not need to be consecutive. Dogs remember the program even if we go weeks between sessions. What works best for your needs can be discussed at your initial assessment.

 3.    What age is best to start training with a puppy?

I like to start training puppies after the 5-month mark. I think it’s important for them to be a puppy first. We can certainly talk about guidance on potty training and biting ahead of time, but the real work can happen after 5 months once they’ve had the chance to get puppy behaviors out of their system.

 4.    Where does training take place?

This is where I like to get creative. Dog training requires the perfect alignment of your schedule and location with mine. Most of my travel occurs in the West Metro, but if you’re willing to meet me at a central location or my home in Delano, we can discuss options during initial scheduling. If you happen to be out of my travel area, and I can line up more than one dog in your area, I am willing to travel further.

5.    Can you train multiple dogs at once?

If you have more than one dog, we can work with them at one time. My rate is adjusted for multiples, depending on how many and their needs. It is important that I understand each individual dog’s needs before we schedule a group training. The best way to do this is to give me a call at 612-750-3563
